General information
Since 2004 the following general rules apply to the transport of dogs within the European Union:
-
Animals should be in the possession of a European passport
-
Since 2011 a chip is obligatory. The chip must be inserted before the rabies vaccine is given (on the same day also is allowed).
-
The animals must be vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days before the trip.
Some European countries also have some additional rules, such as an obligatory tick/flea treatment or the prohibition of certain varieties. Also there are different rules for animals younger than three months, that cannot be vaccinated against rabies yet. We advise you to give your dog a proper tick treatment at least 14 days before the trip
